 2) Did this movie help you in understanding the plot of the novel?

3) Who do you think is real monster?
➤ Neither monster nor victor is real monster because they are merely puppets of situation, both are correct on their  side. victor has a desire to create something which ended death on earth but by mistake outcome become creature which is unacceptable. in other hand monster also have humanly desires and thright useus he had done all those things. so i found that situations created all those things, therefore only circumstances are responsible, and they are Real Monsters.

4) From Where Mary Shelley get the idea for the novel Frankenstein ?
➤In the preface to the 1831 edition of the novel, Shelley wrote that the idea first came to her in the summer of 1816, where she stayed in a manor on lake geneva with her future husband P.B.SHELLY and Byron suggested that each of them write a ghost story.

6) What are some myths used by Mary Shelley in the Frankenstein?
➤ THE MYTH OF NARCISSUS
      THE MODERN PROMETHEUS
      THE MYTH IN PARADISE LOST
* Myth critic concerned to seek out those mysterious elementes that inform certain literary works and that elicit, with almost uncanny force, dramatic and universal human reactions. Victor demonstrates the paradoxical nature of narcissism , the expectation of receiving special favors from others without assuming reciprocal responsibilities. Study of myths reveals about the mind and character of people.

7) Write about the narratology of the Frankenstein.
➤We can see that , That's the story within the story and there are three narrators...* Captain Walton * Victor Frankenstein  * Monstar
In the Frankenstein we can frame a narrative , I narration and story within the story...the nature of narrative in Frankenstein  is inseparably linked to it's structure. Which considered as a frame narrative.

T.S.Eliot

Thinking Activity Of T.S.Eliot

1. How would you like to explain Eliot's concept of Tradition? Do you agree with it?
➤ Eliot idea's of tradition were extraordinarily influential. His essay was a major contributor to modernism's rise and hegemony. The essay came to be regarded as conservative, elitist, obsessed with order and backword looking. He assumes the authority to choose what represents great poetry, and several fronts. Eliot's idea of tradition, as critics and theorists have been doing of late, from a more impartial perspective.

2. What do you understand by Historical Sense? (Use these quotes to explain your understanding)
The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of  it's presence; the historical sense compels a man to write not merely with his own generation in his bones, but with a feeling that the whole of the literature of europe from homer and within it the whole of the literature of his own country has a simultaneous existence an composes a simultaneous order. This historical sense, which is a sense of the timeless as well as of the temporal and of the timeless and of the temporal together, is what makes a writer traditional.

3. What is the relationship between “tradition” and “the individual talent,” according to the poet T. S. Eliot?
Eliot's concept about of tradition and individual talent, here we can see that how Eliot associate with tradition. He gave general dictionary meaning of tradition. There is conflict between traditional and morden. Morden automatically becomes good and traditional automatically becomes not so good. It's compare with this morden writer to find in this present work.

4. Explain: "Some can absorb knowledge, the more tardy must sweat for itShakespeare acquired more essential history from Plutarch than most men could from the whole British Museum".
➤ Eliot demands wide reading to the readers. Readers should have very voracious readers. Then he also finds that Shakespeare seems to be an exception. Shakespeare is not well read writer. He is exceptional. Shakespeare absorbed his age. Eliot says that genius have ability to absorb knowledge through understanding of surroundings.

5. Explain: "Honest criticism and sensitive appreciation is directed not upon the poet but upon the poetry"
In this critic should appreciate the work without any personal intention. while reading poetry there has no any effect of poet. criticize poetry without any bias or prejudice, if we like any work its because of quality of work not because of poet.

6. How would you like to explain Eliot's theory of depersonalization? You can explain with the help of chemical reaction in presence of catalyst agent, Platinum.
➤ The theory of depersonalization of honest criticism and sensitive appreciations directed not upon the poet but upon the poetry. If we compare the chemical elements with abstract things from the poet's life.Explai this theory is,
So2 – Sulphur dioxide = poet’s feelings and emotions
O2 – oxygen = poet’s experience and imaginations
Platinum - = poet’s mind
H2SO4 – sulfuric acid = poetry.
Mere feelings and emotions cannot make the poem. And same like platinum poets mind does not reflect in poetry.e of quality of work not because of poet.
In that perception Eliot describe about this whole science formula.

7. Explain: " Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality."
➤ The above quotation mention poet, It means that poet writes poetry to escape from his emotions of his life which he faces and suffers     By expresses his emotions it gIves him pleasure. This thing convert himself into poet .

8.Write two points on which one can write critique on 'T.S. Eliot as a critic.
➤  Both points are here:-
" Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality."
Second idea of depersonalization that The man who suffers and the mind which creates are different.

Matthew Arnold

MATTHEW ARNOLD : THINKING ACTIVITY

➣ Do you agree with Mathew Arnold's views on detachment, disinterestedness, fallacies like historical and personal, touchstone method and his definition of Poetry? If you agree, why and on what grounds do you agree? If you disagree, why and what are the points of disagreement?

Arnold's view on the first great principle of criticism enunciated by Arnold is that of  the disinterestedness or detachment.disinterestedness on the part of the critic implies freedom from all prejudices personal or historical. .......Real estimate, the only true one, is liable to superseded, if we are not watchful, by two other kinds of estimate. The historic estimate and the personal estimate, both of which fallacious.

We have turn to poetry to interpret life for us, to console us, to sustain us, without poetry. our science will appear incomplete, and the most of what now passes with us for religion and philosophy will be replaced by poetry.Arnold assests that literature and especially poetry, is CRITICISM OF LIFE.

In  poetry, this criticism of life must conform to the laws of poetic truth and poetic beauty. Truth and seriousness of matter felicity and perfection of diction and manner as are exhibited in the best poet. Thus, the superior characters truth and seriousness, in the matter of substance of the best poetry, is inseparable from the superiority of diction and movement marking its style and manners.

ARNOLD'S DEFINITION OF POETRY:-

"As a criticism of life under the conditions fixed for such a criticism by the laws of poetic truth and poetic beauty."

"The impassioned expression which is in the countenance of all science."

Arnold's touchstone method of criticism was a really a comparative system of criticism. Arnold was basically a classicist. He admired the ancient Greek, Roman and French authors as the models to be followed by the modern English authors. The old English like Shakespeare. Spenser or Milton were also to be taken as models.

Arnold took selected passages from the modern authors and compared them with selected passages from the ancient authors and then decided their merits. This method was called Arnold's Touchstone Method. However this system of judgement has its own limitation. The method of comparing passage with a passage is not sufficient test for determining the value of a work as a whole.

Arnold himself insisted that we must judge a poem by the 'Total Impression' and not by its fragments. but we can further extend this of comparison from passages to the poem as whole unites. The comparative method is an invaluable aid to appreciation of any kind of art. It is helpful not merely thus to compare the masterpiece and the lesser work but the good with the not so good, the sincere with the not quite sincere and so on. He said that Most good man to have always in one's mind lines and expressions of the great and the apply as touchstone method.
